Hi! I'M TIM....

Hi, I’m Tim.  I’m fortunate to be in the next stage of my life and running a business that perfectly suits my desire for a more relaxed lifestyle and substantial additional income. I’m an American having grown up in Southern California before moving to New York and New Jersey in my mid 30’s.  I worked in pharmaceutical marketing for many years before starting my own retained search firm in 2008.  I’m passionate about personal development. I’m twice married with 2 children and 5 grandchildren.

THE PROBLEM THAT LED ME HERE:  After 15 years of owning my own retained executive search business in oncology we got hit hard by the Covid 19 pandemic.  We pivoted during covid to focus on vaccines and began work with two companies who focused on covid therapies.  Unfortunately as Covid waned so did the need for vaccines and our business slumped again.  Having tired of traveling and constantly building new clients I began looking for an “escape hatch” that would allow me to spend more time in Florida doing the things I loved.  Those pursuits involved more than golf and tennis though.  I had considerable experience in coaching and personal development, and I wanted to do more to help others – and also generate income.  The problem was no one was eager to hire me due to my age.  It was again time to go into business for myself.

THE BUSINESS THAT STRUGGLED: 

My executive search business was successful but at a significant personal cost.  I was always working. Although we downsized during Covid, we bounced back from a number of business-related challenges including competitor lawsuits.  After the loss of our Covid vaccine related business, we branched out to do educational programs Oncology Fellows.  The programs were successful but didn’t generate enough income for the set up and effort required. I thought of selling the business, but it was very dependent on me for new business.  It was  not really scalable, and I didn’t want to work for someone else in my own business.  The business just got to be too much to sustain. 

THE BOOKS THAT LED ME TO SUCCESS:

When I contemplated starting my own business I read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.  I listened to it so many times in the car I could almost recite the chapters word for word.  It provided so much inspiration and comfort during challenging times, often characterized by self-doubt.  Later in my career as I began to do more coaching and lead peer advisory groups,   I embraced the book “Positive Intelligence” by Shirzad Chamine.  The book focuses on the strength of our positive mental muscles, which can be developed to improve our ability to handle life's challenges with a positive mindset. It is based on the idea that our minds have "saboteurs," or negative thought patterns, and a "sage," or positive internal guide. The goal is to weaken the saboteurs and strengthen the sage through practices like mindfulness, which builds mental fitness, well-being, and performance.sustain. 

THE BUSINESS THAT WAS A BOOM: The business that I was led to that day, is the business that I still run today.
